With the development of the Buster Cube in 1986, I had following
goals: |
Today my evaluation regarding the goals is: |
|
1.
|
Stimulate activity of the dog with a minimum
involvement of the owner. |
The original size of the
cube satisfies the original goal of entertaining and feeding the dogs.
By giving the dog its daily food servings by Buster Cube, the dog gets
naturally tired and self-entertained. One only needs to fill the cube
with a spoonful of food and then let the dog empty the cube. This is
repeated continually to stimulate the activity of the dog.
The
Buster Mini Cube is not recommended for larger dogs, because of the
small size the larger dogs simply walk around with the cube in their
mouth. Thus, the cube is recommended for use by small dogs less than
four pounds or puppies less than 12 weeks.
|
|
2. |
The
Buster Cube is extremely durable, but not harmful to the dog. |
The
durability of the Buster Cube is quite impressive. On hard surfaces,
like concrete, the cube withstands well, however, loud noise can be
expected. |
|
3.
|
It should be possible to adjust the difficulty of the Buster Cube.
|
The
goal was achieved. The tube can be used to adjust difficulty.
However, the tube can be hard to use at times, but the use of oil can
remedy any difficulty.
|
|
4. |
By associating to a game of dices,
the Buster Cube should get the attention of potential costumers.
|
Unfortunately, the Buster Cube is
unsuccessful in achieving the goal because it does not distinguish
itself from other toys. |
|
5. |
The plastic must be translucent, therefore enabling the owner can
follow the feed in the cube. |
Unfortunately, as of
1995, a strong enough translucent material was not available and a
substitution was made. |
|
6. |
To
maintain good sanitation, the cube must be easily cleaned. |
The
cube is cleanable.
You can
even put it in a dishwasher. Only in this case you have to remove the
tube. Though, some instructions tell the user to remove the tube for
refilling the cube with food. This may be confusing for some and it
has never been the intention.
